Principal
Dan Carr brings over 9 years of experience as a trusted advisor to participants across the payments and fintech ecosystem. He is based in London, where he is co-leading the build-out of Flagship’s London office.

Dan has led or supported over 90 engagements, advising payment providers, schemes, financial institutions, software platforms, fintechs, merchants, and financial sponsors across Europe, North America, and the Middle East on strategy development, growth, operating model design, and M&A. He has deep expertise in payment acceptance, digital commerce, software-embedded payments, embedded finance, and fintech innovation.

Dan’s strategy work is growth-oriented, helping Flagship’s clients navigate industry disruption to create value, with a strong track record of tangible results. He brings extensive experience in crafting actionable, insight-led strategies; performing rigorous market and competitive analysis to identify “where to play”; and making practical recommendations on proposition design, go-to-market channels, partnerships, and operating model reinvention to execute on “how to win.” 

As an M&A advisor, Dan leverages his industry expertise and understanding of value creation in payments and fintech to support clients throughout the M&A process. He has supported many of the world’s leading fintech investors on buy-side due diligence and post-acquisition value creation strategies, while also supporting leading fintechs through successful sell-side processes.

Prior Experience

Before joining Flagship, Dan was part of Accenture’s Global Banking Strategy practice, where he led and  delivered strategic initiatives for retail and commercial banks, payment providers, card schemes and software platforms across the UK, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America.

During his time at Accenture, he supported one of the world’s largest software companies in launching and scaling a global peer-to-peer payments solution across multiple emerging markets. 

In addition to his core financial services work, Dan gained experience with clients across a diverse range of sectors including software, industrial products, and natural resources.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys exploring London, discovering great restaurants, cheering on Irish and Leinster rugby, and spending time cycling or sailing. He escapes to Ireland’s west coast whenever he gets the chance.
