Principal
Romano (Rom) Mascetti, Principal, has 9 years of experience in financial services including 7 years in strategy consulting. Rom has led and supported more than 50 engagements across the payments for fintechs, payment service providers, SaaS platforms, financial institutions, enterprise merchants, and private equity firms in North America and Europe. Rom has advised on growth strategy, product development, buy-side support, capital raising events, strategic partnership formation, performance benchmarking, and conducted market research across C2B, B2B, and B2C commerce. He has established expertise in merchant payment acceptance, software-embedded payments/finance, corporate spending & B2B payments, and payments orchestration, among other domains. 

Since joining Flagship, Rom’s work includes large scale product/go-to-market strategy engagements with fintechs and payment service providers offering componentized payment services. During these engagements, Rom supported competitive benchmarking, market sizing, product roadmap development, sales/marketing best practices, and business requirement formation for technical payment routing, tokenization, fraud management, and other payment service domains. He has also supported multiple SaaS platforms on embedded payments/fintech strategies, developing the overall payments value proposition, product vision, target operating model, and business case.

Rom also regularly supports both buy-side and sell-side M&A activity for strategics and financial investors, educating clients on the payments landscape while assessing targets’ competitive landscape, customer portfolio and commercial model, market opportunity, products/capabilities, operating model, and overall right-to-win while validating the overall investment thesis.

Prior to joining Flagship Advisory Partners, Rom was a Manager with Accenture/First Annapolis Consulting and was responsible for leading and supporting the Accenture Payments Strategy practice in the U.S. Rom joined Accenture in 2017 after completing his MBA where he focused in Finance and Consulting. Rom's pre-MBA career includes practical finance and front-office execution experience working for JPMorgan Chase's Global Investment Bank as an Analyst supporting its Debt Capital Markets and M&A Advisory groups.

Rom holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Bachelor’s from Drexel University.
